Who am I?

  • Hi! My name is Grant. I was born in Sydney in 1954 but grew up in Brisbane. I studied electrical engineering at the University of Queensland, before doing a doctorate in differential geometry in Montpellier, France, under the direction of Pierre Molino. I spent two years as an assistant at the University of Geneva, and a one year postdoc at the University of Waterloo, Canada, before coming to La Trobe in 1988. I retired in early 2017.

The Q seminars

  • I'm the convener of the "Q Seminars", which is a group of people who meet fortnightly over dinner, to share their enjoyment of mathematics in a relaxed and friendly environment. Each year is devoted to a special theme. The list of topics we have examined is given here.
